U to discuss terrorist events

October 9, 2001

MSU faculty and teaching assistants will have a chance to examine and compare with each other what they have learned from their experiences regarding the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks at a workshop today.

The session, “The Search for Understanding: Dealing with the Events of September 11 in the Classroom,” is presented by Faculty Development Programs.

It will be held at 5 p.m. in the Big Ten A conference room at the Kellogg Center.

Karl Smith, an associate professor of science and math education, will lead the discussion, which aims to identify how instructors can logically deal with the development of world conflicts such as the terrorist attacks and discuss them in their classes.

Faculty and teaching assistants will also be given advice as to how they can be more reasonable in analyzing situations like this, even in classes where the events do not relate to the course material.
