Police briefs 09/24/01

l Two Williams Hall roommates fought each other Friday, said MSU police Sgt. Randy Holton. The 20-year-old students fought after weeks of not getting along, he said. Both roommates accused the other of starting the fight after the staff reported them to the police. Both had minor injuries, but refused treatment. The case will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.l An engine part and some CDs were taken from a 1996 Acura, Holton said. The items were taken between Sept. 16 and Friday. The owner, a 29-year-old Cherry Lane Apartments resident, said the window was pried open and the dashboard was damaged. There are no suspects.l A 23-year-old student was injured after hitting a tree while driving drunk, Holton said. The accident occurred at 7 a.m. Sunday on Collins Road, north of Dunckel Drive. The student was transported to and released from Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital after running into a tree. The student’s 2001 Jeep received an estimated $4,000 in damage. The replacement of the tree is likely to cost about $3,000.
