Field hockey squad hosts Central Michigan

The Spartans (5-3, 1-0 Big Ten) are coming off a dominating 5-0 win over Northwestern in their Big Ten opener Saturday at Spartan Stadium.

Despite its 3-3 overall record, Central could present a challenge for the Spartans. Last year Central defeated MSU 3-2 in overtime.

The team is going to have to be sharper today if they expect to beat Central, head coach Michele Madison said.

“Practice today wasn’t that sharp,” she said. “They tried to fight through it, but they weren’t playing together like they can.”

“(Central) is historically very aggressive. If we dribble the ball, we’re going to have problems against their aggressive defense.”
