Police briefs 07/19/01

At 6:52 p.m. Monday, a vehicle was checked at 144 Poplar Lane for a safety hazard, East Lansing police Sgt. Ray Helman said. Gas was leaking out of the car and into a turkey basting pan as another was ready to replace it. The fire department was not called because the gas was not leaking into the street.

  • Also on Monday, an officer responded to a possible runaway at Pinball Pete’s, 220 Albert Ave. The assumed runaway is a 15-year-old female who was possibly there with her 23-year-old boyfriend, Helman said. Police were unable to locate her.
