Perhaps you should have seen it coming.
The recent success of the MSU mens basketball program has brought national attention to East Lansing and the university. And with that comes an increase in basketball season-ticket prices.
The MSU athletics department on Wednesday released ticket prices for the 2001-02 season and all season-ticket holders will see a price hike from between $1.50 and $4 per ticket. Student tickets will rise to $9.50 per game.
MSU faculty and staff will be charged $18 a ticket for lower-level seating and $13 for each ticket in the upper level. Regular-season ticket holders in the lower level will be charged $22 a ticket and $16 a ticket for upper-level seating.
Family plan seating, which includes four minimum upper-level bench seats, will be $10 each. Those interested in purchasing single-game tickets will be charged $24 for lower-level seating and $18 for upper-level seating.
Ticket prices were also altered before last season, a decision coming on the heels of the mens first NCAA Championship since 1979.
Student season-ticket holders like Rob Speer want a successful team and understand the extra revenue will help the winning equation.
The mens team has won four straight Big Ten titles and advanced to the Final Four for three straight years.
(Its worth the price) to see one of the best teams in the country, so Im willing to pay that, said Speer, a telecommunication junior.
