MSU police will hold a public forum tonight to discuss the departments 12-point plan to improve relations with the minority community.
The plan, announced in November, addresses racial profiling, supporting minority students in the police department and promoting greater knowledge of police procedures. One of the 12 points also calls for an annual spring forum.
The forum will be held at 8 p.m. in the Unions Northwestern Room.
Basically its just a time for anybody to voice concerns about police-minority relations on campus, MSU police Lt. Kelly Beck said. What we hope is to have continued open communication between the department and the community.
Beck said police also plan to give an overview of the departments Strategy Team for Police-Minority Trust and the 12-point plan, and officials will release preliminary traffic stop data collected since January to monitor racial profiling.
