As the price of one date with William Griffin mounted from $50 to $80 to $100, LaTorsha Hill repeatedly threw her hand in the air, bidding more and more money Friday evening at National Pan-Hellenic Councils Spring Date Auction.
If I was her, I would wait until he was out in the hallway to ask for a date, finance junior Latasha Golden remarked as she sat in the middle of the crowd, which filled N-100 Business College Complex to capacity.
But once Hill began, she wasnt about to lose.
Im very competitive, the marketing junior said. Once I started bidding I wasnt going to stop until I won.
When Hills bid reached $115, everyone elses hand lowered for the final time.
I wasnt planning on (bidding) beforehand, she said. It was a spur of the moment thing.
And she says it was worth it, though before Friday night she had never met Griffin, an advertising and public resource management senior.
Ive seen him around campus before, she said. I thought he was pretty cute.
