Bush tax cut does benefit everyone

Contrary to Dan Woike’s opinion (“President’s tax cut doesn’t benefit everyone,” SN 2/23), President Bush’s proposed tax cut does benefit everybody.

Former President Reagan managed a similar tax cut, and everybody benefited in the past decade.

To GW’s fortune, he is operating on a surplus, whereas Reagan was not. Think of your future. Now, according to our “progressive” socialist tax system, the percentage of income confiscated by the government forces the wealthy to pay more of their income in taxes than the poor. How is that fair? Do the wealthy use more government services than the poor?

The value of a wealthy man’s work is worth more - so he will earn more - because he became educated, started a business himself or saved and invested in other businesses. Lowering tax rates for the wealthy, and everybody else, allows people more money to start a business, which will provide more jobs.

Why would the wealthy horde cash to buy another yacht when they could reinvest in a new business and make more money? If anybody is intelligent and determined enough to handle their finances properly, they too can share in the wealth the right way - by being inventive and working hard for the wealth, not getting it through the government’s unconstitutional Robin Hood tactics.

When did hard-earned wealth and profit become evil?
