Gore should not concede election

I very rarely disagree with “Our Voice.” However, I must disagree with the opinion that Vice President Al Gore should concede ( “Recountdown,” SN 11/27). Under no circumstances should he even think about conceding. Gore must continue dueling with Texas Gov. George W. Bush as long as possible in the interest of dignity and justice - this is America’s battle.

I would agree with “Our Voice” if the Electoral College was being decided in a state other than Florida, where Bush’s brother, Jeb, is governor and the Secretary of State is his campaign co-chairman and head of the election commission. I believe that entire procedure in Florida has been rigged.

As a six-year member of the Republican party who wrote a book in honor of former Congressman Dick Chrysler, I know the difference between Republicans then and Republicans now. I have written a tell-all book about them entitled “Renegade Republicans.” New Republican leaders are not to be trusted.

I was at the meeting of Ingham County Republicans when there was an attempt to disenfranchise Sen. John McCain of Ingham County’s delegate votes - there was a near skirmish. In Grand Rapids, at the state convention, we witnessed them rigging delegates to send Gov. John Engler’s people to Philadelphia.

If Republicans pull tricks in front of your face, imagine what goes on behind closed doors in Florida. I’ll never accept Bush as a leader. Gore won the votes and the presidency long ago.

Bush is a pretender to the throne via election manipulations in his brother’s Banana Republic state. This insults the voting process and is a black day for Republicans. It is hard to believe people really want such a man as president. I’m ashamed for Republicans and do not understand how intelligent people voted for him.
