The article The State News ran regarding the voter registration deadline was misleading (“Voter registration deadline close,” SN 10/6).

Students do not, in fact, have to vote in the city currently listed on their driver’s license. It requires less than a minute to fill out the secretary of state’s change-of-address form and this simply adds an address to its records. If you’re a student, this is effectively your home for four or more years. Show some civic responsibility and vote in East Lansing.

As it stands, less than 20 percent of 18- to 25-year-olds vote. If you’re concerned about the direction in which things in this country have been going, you can register at city hall, the secretary of state, or a Democratic voter registration booth on campus by midnight Tuesday.
