Police briefs 10/12/00

A 22-year-old male student reported his backpack stolen from a West Akers Hall classroom Tuesday, MSU police Sgt. Alan Haller said. The man left his backpack unattended in the room from 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. following a class. When he returned later it was gone, he said.The bag contained a calculator valued at $30 and a portable CD player valued at $40.Police have no suspects.

  • A female student reported her jacket stolen between 8:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Haller said.The woman had placed her fleece jacket on a coat rack in the second floor hallway of the Union. When she returned to retrieve the jacket it was gone. A pair of 14-karat gold earrings and her keys were in the pockets, Haller said.Losses were estimated at $200.
