At a university where students will riot after a Final Four game, who in their right minds think that a thousand people will form an orderly line at the stroke of midnight? Yet those who organized Fridays Izzone ticket sales did. I was one of a slowly increasing number of students who came to the Union at 7 p.m. in search of the coveted tickets. We were told we had to stay away from the Union until exactly midnight. By 11 p.m. I would guess there was more than 800 people. We were pushed back by two or three people wearing white Izzone shirts.
By 11:30 p.m. tensions were high. Every second people were inching closer and closer so they might get the chance to stand in line next to a green portable toilet, where we were told the line would form at the designated time. I dont know who started it but all of the sudden I found myself and 800 of my closest friends running toward the portable toilet.
The nice orderly line was a semicircle west of the portable toilet with everyone shoving as hard as they could to get to the front of the line. As far as I know there was only one person who was badly injured in the entire ordeal. I hope she recovers quickly, then finds a good lawyer. The university put hundreds of students in danger. It is amazing that more people were not hurt.
