Avery Steinlage could have excelled at any sport. With a vertical jump of more than 30 inches, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound Steinlage has the ups of a forward in basketball. And with his “cat-like” reflexes and strength, he has the skill-set of a big-league slugger. But Steinlage uses his athletic ability and size for a different purpose — to protect the goal for the MSU men’s soccer team, something he dreamt of since first putting on goalie gloves at age 5.
