A 23-year-old Florida man reported more than $900 in unauthorized charges on his credit card Aug. 3, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.
McGlothian-Taylor could not confirm whether the man was a student or university employee, but the charges were made on an MSU Federal Credit Union card, and the man called police from Holden Hall, she said.
His card was not stolen, but the charges were not made in the area.
He last used the card at a local restaurant Aug. 3 where an employee swiped it on an older model of credit card machine because the newer model was broken.
The unauthorized charges were made on the card that day.
MSU Federal Credit Union contacted the man the next day about the suspicious charges.
There are no suspects, and the restaurant is not under suspicion.
The incident is under investigation.
