Ashlee Baracy was crowned Miss Michigan 2008 Saturday at the 2008 Miss Michigan Scholarship Pageant. The program started at 7 p.m. at Muskegon’s Frauenthal Theater.
Baracy, former Miss Wayne County, will receive $11,000 in scholarship money.

Recent MSU graduate Melissa Cousino, Miss Spirit of the State 2008, finished as one of five semifinalists for which she will receive $1,200 in scholarship money.
Five other current or former Spartans also participated in the event, and will receive $600 in scholarship money.
They include: communication sophomore and Miss Auburn-Midland, Lindsay Bacigalupo; psychology graduate and Miss Bay County, Katie LaRoche; mathematics sophomore and Miss Iosco County, Amy Gracik; music junior and Miss Monroe County, Rachel Lauren McCleery; and biochemistry and genomics and molecular genetics senior, Allison Blaine, Miss Calhoun County.
