Men's basketball to play in Maui Invitational in 2019

The men's basketball team announced Tuesday it will play in the Maui Jim Maui Tournament in 2019. 

The Spartans will join Brighman Young , Dayton, Georgia, Kansas, UCLA and Virginia Tech from Nov. 25-27 at the Lahaina Civic Center in Maui, Hawaii.

This will mark the team's fifth appearance in the tournament and their first time back since 2010. The Spartans won the championship in 1991 after they defeated No. 2 Arkansas, 86-71. Head coach Tom Izzo made his debut as the Spartan leader in the 1995 tournament.

The 2019 tournament teams will have a combined total of 198 NCAA Tournament appearances, 44 Final Fours and 16 national championships.
