Two cases of sexual assault reported to MSU police

February 10, 2016

MSU police reported two instances of sexual assault on campus this week. The first, which reportedly occurred on Feb. 3 at about 4:30 a.m. in East Holden Hall, involved a 19-year-old female student reportedly being sexually assaulted by a 19-year-old male student whom she knows.

The second case was reported on Feb. 5 by an 18-year-old female student who reported being the victim of a sexual assault. The assault reportedly occurred on Jan. 31 in Case Hall. The suspect is a 19-year-old male student who is known by the victim. Both of these cases are open and ongoing.

Extortion

On Feb. 5 a 19-year-old male student in West Wilson Hall reported being threatened by an unknown suspect to provide a large sum of money, or else the suspect would post an inappropriate video of the victim. There was never any money sent and the case is still under investigation.

Entering without permission

On Feb. 7 at about 1:30 a.m. in Owen Hall, a 23-year-old female student reported someone banging on her door for about 15 minutes. The suspect was a 23-year-old male non-student and he did not gain access to the victim’s room.
