MSU spokesman: don't expect snow day

February 1, 2015

Bad news, Spartans. Although East Lansing is expected to see 5 inches of accumulated snowfall today and an additional 5 inches tonight, MSU isn't calling off classes — at least not yet.

"Operations will be running as normal, and I have no indication that that will change," MSU spokesman Jason Cody said.

Students can expect any updates about classes to be posted to MSU's website, but are advised not to get their hopes up.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for East Lansing until tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasts for more snow mean more student hopes of snow days, which are seldom gratified.

There have only been six instances in which MSU canceled classed for students — the latest was last January during the polar vortex when students were able to miss two consecutive days of class.
