On Jan. 8, the MSU Volleyball team held its annual brunch banquet to celebrate the season. In 2016, the Spartans had one the best seasons in program history, finishing off with an overall record on 25-9 and 13-7 during Big Ten conference play.

Late Sunday evening, the MSU volleyball team welcomed good news regarding its impending journey in the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans earned the overall No. 9 seed and will host Fairfield University, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, or MAAC, champions. On Saturday No. 15 MSU volleyball played against in-state rival No. 17 University of Michigan. It was an even matchup between the Wolverines and the Spartans went on to win in four sets (25-23, 28-30, 25-23, 25-22). With this win, MSU has now won six straight games.
