Netminder Jon Mor plays in first career MSU hockey game

As the clock wound down in the final period and the Spartans continued domination over the US National Team Development Program, senior goaltender Jon Mor received a tap on the shoulder from associate head coach Jared DeMichiel. After spending four hardworking years at MSU, DeMichiel told more Mor to “get ready.”

MSU hockey's Gucciardi and Larson named to GLI All Tournament Team after stellar performances

There were two players who had stand-out performances and were nominated as members of the GLI All-Tournament Team honors, and those two were sophomore forward Joey Larson who tallied two goals in the championship game and junior defenseman David Gucciardi, who had an outstanding pass to junior forward Red Savage to tie the game to send the teams to overtime.

5 MSU hockey players invited to selection camps for World Junior Championships

As the Spartans head into early December, just about halfway through the season, the announcement of preliminary selection camps were announced for the IIHF World Juniors Championships. There were five Spartans selected to head to the camp for their respective countries: freshman goaltender Trey Augustine, sophomore forward ​​Isaac Howard, freshman defenseman Patrick Geary, freshman defenseman Maxim Štrbák and freshman forward Tommi Männistö.

Trey Augustine's "rock" presence in net aids MSU hockey's sweep against No. 1 Wisconsin

After an eventful weekend at Munn Ice Arena, the No. 11 Michigan State Spartans pulled off a sweep against the No. 1 team in the country, the University of Wisconsin. Saturday's win marked the Spartan's first series sweep over a top-ranked team in over a century. It was clear to see the progress in the MSU skaters over the Wisconsin series, but the one player who truly shined over the weekend was true freshman goalie Trey Augustine. Augustine tallied a total of 60 saves on the weekend and had over a .92 save percentage both nights of play against the No. 1 ranked Badgers.
