Whenever people describe Ohio State fans it is generally negative, but the crowd at ESPN's College GameDay couldn't disagree more. "We live in Cleveland now so we came down for the game and we brought our two-year-old and it’s just been fun," 2002 social relations graduate Laura James said. "It’s really kind of a family atmosphere and just fun to see other State fans and cheer and yell go green and go white to each other.” James will always love her alma mater, but she has been pleased with the people of Columbus and the atmosphere. “Nothing compares to East Lansing, East Lansing will always be home," James said. "It’s a little tough with all the Buckeye fans around, but it’s a great atmosphere, a lot of happy faces and everyone’s been really nice.”
Spartans branding green and white were sprinkled into the sea of scarlet red today for tailgating at Columbus, Ohio.
The MSU-OSU football game at 3:30 p.m. EST in Columbus, Ohio will surely set the playoff path for the victor, but the Spartans and Buckeyes are rising above this rivalry to support a University of Michigan family. Five-year-old Chad Carr, grandson of former Wolverines' head coach Lloyd Carr and Hall of Fame safety Tom Curtis, will be recognized by the two teams with a helmet decal.
Much like last season, one thing stands in between MSU and their goals—Ohio State. Had the Spartans won that game, it could have been MSU earning a berth in the inaugural college football playoff. But ifs don't matter, because the Spartans lost, but here they are again with their dreams in front of them.

What do pro-style quarterbacks Jeff Driskel, Cody Kessler, Max Wittek, Christian LeMay, Brandon Allen, David Ash, Kyle Boehm, Reilly O'Toole, Tony McNeal, Chad Jeffries, Gary Nova and Cardale Jones all have in common?
Junior quarterback Tyler O’Connor saw his first sufficient game of playing time in a 24-7 victory over Maryland. The Spartans first drive of the game on Saturday was an eight yard run by fifth-year senior quarterback Connor Cook. And although Cook did not appear to be injured on the play, his backup O’Connor was subbed in on the Spartans’ second drive of the game.

The No. 13-ranked MSU football team (8-1 overall, 4-1 Big Ten) is looking to rebound against Maryland (2-7 overall, 0-5 Big Ten) in Spartan Stadium after last week's tough loss to Nebraska.
The starting left tackle for the Spartans, junior Jack Conklin, said the team is already over “that” and “it,” meaning the team’s week 10 loss to Nebraska, and he said a “good physical practice” on Tuesday was a sign the team is still reaching for its goals.
Nebraska shocked MSU 39-38 Saturday night in Lincoln, ending the Spartans undefeated season. However, the Cornhuskers game-winning touchdown probably should have been called back as junior wide receiver Brandon Reilly clearly stepped out of bounds on his own free will. Former Vice President of Officiating in the National Football League and current Rules Analyst at FOX Sports Mike Pereira offered his opinion on the controversial touchdown in a series of tweets. The Spartans undefeated season is over, but the Big Ten Championship is still in reach, MSU has to run the table.
