MSU football in the midst of a quarterback question

Fifth-year senior quarterback Tyler O’Connor took the podium in the media center of Spartan Stadium with the look that comes after three straight losses — he wasn’t happy. But even after being yanked in the fourth quarter in favor of junior quarterback Damion Terry, he kept his poise.

HALFTIME: MSU leads BYU, 7-3

MSU (2-2, 0-2 Big Ten) returned home following a loss to Indiana and was greeted in a nonconference affair with BYU (2-3, Independent). At the half, MSU leads the Cougars carried through the half by defensive stops and an impressive first drive. That first drive saw the Spartans execute 15 plays and take 7:03 of the clock, the longest drive numbers of the season for MSU in those categories.

PREVIEW: MSU football looks to rebound against BYU

On Saturday, the MSU football team will look to snap a two-game losing streak against the BYU Cougars at Spartan Stadium. Midfield will display a number six in honor of Mylan Hicks. At the last home game against Wisconsin, the helmet donned the number three for Mike Sadler.

Dantonio shakes up offensive line, looking to win the battle up front against BYU

MSU football head coach Mark Dantonio addressed some of the issues he talked about following the loss to Indiana last Saturday, starting with the offensive line. Dantonio shuffled around some pieces to make the unit hopefully more concise to protect senior quarterback Tyler O’Connor and open up holes for a running game that has struggled since its 260-yard explosion against Notre Dame.

MSU honors Mylan Hicks by opening scholarship in his name

In honor of the late Mylan Hicks, who was killed earlier this week, the MSU Athletics Department has set up a scholarship endowment in his name, according to a press release. The endowment, named the Mylan Hicks Memorial Football Scholarship Endowment, was created by a request of Hicks' family and friends.
