Preview: MSU takes on Minnesota in quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Already defeating the Minnesota Golden Gophers twice this season, MSU men's basketball will have to make it a third time if they want to continue in the Big Ten Tournament. They are 1-0 after a win against Penn State, the Spartans will play one of the hottest team in college basketball, the Golden Gophers were winners of their last eight before their season finale against Wisconsin.

Spartans execute, eliminate 'my bad's' in second-round win over Penn State

WASHINGTON D.C. — The Spartans were a different team when they played Penn State on Jan. 7 at the Palestra. It was a 72-63 loss on a neutral floor. MSU couldn't stop Penn State Lamar Stevens, Mike Watkins, or Tony Carr from scoring double-figures. Penn State's bigs crashed the glass on both ends of the court and out-rebounded the Spartans while the guards shot with a hot hand.

FINAL: MSU coasts by Penn State, 78-51

WASHINGTON D.C. — In the nation's capital, the Spartans looked presidential in all facets to defeats the Penn State Nittany Lions 75-51.  Snubbed from the Big Ten All-Freshman team, freshman forward Nick Ward showed his determination early to prove he deserved the honor.

Miles Bridges selected as Freshman of the Year, among other honors

In a unanimous decision Monday, freshman forward Miles Bridges has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year by coaches and media and has also been selected as to the All-Big Ten second-team. Bridges will join Illinois' Malcolm Hill, Northwestern's Bryant McIntosh, Michigan's Derrick Walton Jr., and Wisconsin's Bronson Koenig as the coaches' second-team selection.
