Students bring back MSU skydiving club to "enjoy the beauty of skydiving"

“The purpose of the club is to enjoy the beauty of skydiving,” skydiving club member Noah Roux said. “For me, it is very calming to have the sense that the only thing that matters in that moment is that exact moment. So, everything else I stress out about, everything that worries me, all that doesn’t matter. The only thing I care about is making sure I jump safely.”

MSU holds National Pan-Hellenic Council Yard Show for Divine 9 fraternities, sororities

On Thursday, Sep. 21, in the Wharton Center, Michigan State University hosted the National Pan-Hellenic Council Yard Show, an annual event consisting of nine historically African American fraternities and sororities, also known as the Divine Nine. The Yard Show is a series of performances where the Greek life organizations showcase their Greek life’s history through performances – such as speeches, dances and chants – in front of the other Greek life organizations. Hundreds of students wore their chapter's paraphernalia and held signs to support their brotherhood and sisterhood.

MSU Black Students' Alliance calls for university support, accountability amid racial slur incident

After an incident where racial slurs were posted outside the Student Services Building on June 8 of this year, the Michigan State University Black Students' Alliance, or BSA, released a statement calling for support and accountability from the university. In the statement, BSA addressed MSU's administration and explained the significance of what happened, what it is like to be a Black student at a predominantly white institution, or PWI, and action they hope to see regarding improving safety.

MSU's Pad the Mitten holds 'period package' party, advocates for awareness

Yesterday, Michigan State University's menstrual equity and justice club Pad the Mitten held its first period package party of the semester. The organization's goal was to donate 100 period packages to the Salus Center, an LGBTQIA+ community center in Lansing. Club President Mackenzie Lovell said the main focus is to eradicate period poverty in the Greater East Lansing area, as well as reduce the stigma around menstrual cycles.

MSU Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity holds registration tables for National Voter Registration Day

For National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023, the Michigan State University Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. set up a voting registration table at the Wells Hall Courtyard. According to communication senior Brandon Foster, who is also Zeta Delta chapter historian, the goal of the event was to not only get people registered to vote, but to also teach the importance of voting education.

‘It’s very jarring’: MSU film students react to Hollywood writers' strikes

As the ongoing writers' and actors' strikes in Hollywood pass the 125-day mark, Michigan State University film students are growing uncertain about their futures. “I don't want anybody going out there thinking that they're going to just have a set position in the set job that they're going to be offered,” journalism and music performance senior Aiden Binford said. “It's very jarring. It's very unstable.”
