SN showed bias in Making the choice
Making the choice (SN 3/21) reassured me in my recent referendum vote against The State News tax increase.

In Making the Choice (SN 3/21), the woman featured said Im 19-years-old, Im not going to be able to raise a baby. What about the 2 million people in America who will be on a waiting list to adopt a child for two years? The 5-1/2-week fetus aborted had eyes, arms and legs, developing muscles and bones and a beating heart. Whether you want to think about it, having an abortion causes a life to end.
I agree in part with the editorial Inflated grades (SN 3/18) in the sense that artificially raising grades does diminish the value of a good grade-point average. But professors should not assign grades based on the idea that grades should reflect the amount of work students accomplish in their classes. Results matter, and equal effort does not translate into equal results or success.
I am responding to the article Graduation event stirs debate (SN 3/22). Not to come off as being racist or anything of that nature, but if this second graduation was for white people only it would be deemed as seriously prejudicial. The event is open to all races.
Sometimes I really miss Napster. Id often hear the song thats been in my head for a week on the radio while driving home from work.
Black students should be able to recognize both their culture and successful graduation during commencement weekend. Based on a program at the University of Michigan, the Black Celebratory will recognize graduating black students achievements at a May 3 ceremony. The program also brings attention to the low minority retention rates.
American culture has an unhealthy way of looking to its athletic heroes as demigods who live outside the rules of normal society.
Im 22 years old and I have a 4-year-old daughter. I found out I was pregnant at the start of my senior year in high school.
I hate when Im embarrassed to be an MSU student. It almost never happens, but I felt it as I was leaving Thursdays lecture with filmmaker Spike Lee.
Its great the womens basketball team did well this year. But I hope its not 100 percent satisfied.
I was dismayed to read the Page One article Making the Choice (SN 3/21). Three major aspects of the abortion problem were missing. The first was any consideration for a baby.
I couldnt agree more with the sentiments expressed by the McDonel Hall residents who are footing a large bill due to vandalism (U irked by hall damage rule, SN 3/14). Since when does cleaning up other peoples messes constitute a moral obligation?
We attended ASMSUs town hall discussion Tuesday night. ASMSU has the gall to come to the student body and ask for a $3 tax increase, which will put its projected revenue over $1 million.
This is in response to Making the choice (SN 3/21). I was shocked and appalled when I saw this article and the pictures that went with it.
The complexity of human love makes rational discussion difficult. We think we understand what it means to love and be loved.
In Tom Smuckers letter (Need for contract affects U majority, SN 3/20), he claims the Graduate Employees Union is supported by a majority of graduate students, and the participation of hundreds of graduate employees in union activities is evidence of a majority initiative.
I am writing in response to Marcus Taylors decision to go pro or stay in school (Taylor ticker, SN 3/20). It really makes me sick, as a Spartan, to see he could be considering turning pro.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Womens basketball head coach Joanne P. McCallie asked for it during this seasons kickoff celebration, and while it may have taken a while for her to get it, its better late than never.
Lame-duck Gov. John Engler should quit trying to play the godfather by making Michigan judges offers they cant refuse during his final months in office. The chief executive hoped to move an early retirement plan for judges through the Legislature before lawmakers broke for a two-week vacation this week.
If one state lawmaker has his way, MSU could be asked to step right up to become the future host of the Michigan State Fair.
