Letter: Registering to vote, voting should be easy, not a headache

We’re in the thick of a big election year, and there is no shortage of responsibility being laid on those who are eligible to vote. It would seem that every organization and campaign is putting pressure on voters to exercise their civic duty to participate in elections. That’s fine. However, in the state of Michigan, it has become increasingly difficult to cast your vote if you do not have countless hours on election day to stand at your specified polling location. This needs to change.

For students tired of feeling quieted, believing the conversations around diversity and inclusion on campus only lead to promises that are not being addressed; to the Spartans that don’t believe they have a voice that’s heard calling for change, I hear you.

Letter: Big Ten Championship ticket sales were botched for loyal students

I speak for many students at MSU when I say this. Last night’s “ticket glitch” to the Big Ten Championship game was a "slap to the face" for loyal student fans here at Michigan State.  After MSU beat Penn State and after Coach Dantonio gave his “Reach Higher” speech (which I was there for) a graphic displayed on the Jumbo-tron at Spartan Stadium saying tickets for the Big 10 Championship Game against Iowa next Saturday will go on sale at 9PM tonight.

Letter: Cultural Appropriation is misleading and not an issue

Editor's note: The following letter does not reflect upon the overall opinion of The State News.  As Halloween came and went, I found it hard to not notice all the attention placed on the taste of a person’s costume. Many articles and discussions were held discouraging costumes that exemplified cultural icons, at least for those who did not share that culture.
