I was incredibly disappointed this morning to find no coverage of the Common concert in The State News. I attended the awe-inspiring concert along with no fewer than 1,000 hip-hop enthusiasts — it was quite refreshing!
On Friday I had the opportunity to see the MSU Men’s Glee Club perform in Traverse City. Eighty members strong and directed by Jonathan Reed, the group was stellar. As an alumnus of the group, it brought back some great memories.

When I first heard about how students that were arrested at Cedar Fest might face suspension or expulsion, I thought it was the right thing for the university to do. But then I realized a few things that caused me to change my mind. When most of the people are charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct, even a suspension is way overboard.

When I read Jeremy Frazier’s letter, Weekend’s riot not pointless, shows bad intentions of police (SN 4/8), all I was hearing was a weak argument that by showing up, the police were to blame for the riot.
They say you never know what you’ve got until it’s gone. For the past week, that statement especially has rung true for me.
A proposed bill that would allow bars to stay open until 4 a.m. might seem like a two-hour legislative bonus to many college students. The bill states that bars and restaurants could remain open an extra two hours for an annual $2,500 fee.
