The Pi Alpha Phi National Board has announced that the Michigan State chapter of the fraternity has been closed and has completed its investigation.

This closure of the fraternity, prior under an interim suspension, followed the death of MSU student Phat Nguyen on the 400 block of Stoddard Ave. Three other individuals were found passed out at the scene as well.

“As a result, the Fraternity has concluded that — in keeping with our commitment to the core missions of Pi Alpha Phi as well as Michigan State University — the closure of the Pi Alpha Phi chapter was the appropriate course of action.” Pi Alpha Phi National Board wrote.

While the MSU chapter is currently closed, the fraternity can be reinstated after a minimum of 10 years, according to the email.

Each fraternity brother is now under suspended status, however, the students will be entitled to their full rights and privileges as Pi Alpha Phi alumni upon graduating.

For any student that may need support services, reach out to MSU Counseling and Psychiatric Services that are available to students 24/7/365.
