MSU is ranked second in the state in terms of alumni salary across all colleges according to GradReports.com

The rankings are based on the Salary Score from each college, which takes the median alumni salary for all programs in each college of the university based on data provided by the U.S. Department of Education.

Michigan State trails the University of Michigan in terms of graduate salaries compared to graduates from the same program in the same position from other universities in Michigan.

Michigan State also is above-average nationally in graduate salary, according to GradReports.com, but does not rank within the top 30 universities in the country.

This data shows that Michigan State is the second-best university in the state for preparing students after college and placing them in higher-paying jobs within their field.

According to the website, the state of Michigan tends to have lower costs of living, which ultimately results in smaller salaries for alumni who stay in the state after graduation. Despite this, 14 Michigan schools had higher salary rates than the national median.

GradReports.com’s rankings are objective based on only graduate salary, unlike many college rankings that take a litany of factors into account, such as graduation rate or program prestige.

The goal of GradReports.com’s rankings is to provide prospective students with information about what school would be the most cost-effective for them after graduation to combat the rising problems of unemployment and student debt nationwide.
