Crunch Gym, co-owned by Adam Hourani, a former MSU tennis player, opened its doors Sept. 25 at 2655 East Grand River Ave.
This is the sixth Michigan location Hourani and his partner, James Wiese have opened, with the first five in the Detroit area.
Hourani said with a location so close to campus, it might be the best of them.
“I was born and raised here, my family still lives here, I love the area,” Hourani said. “This area has given me so much so I wanted to give some back.”
Crunch Gym has over 300 locations across the United States, Canada and Australia.
“With the college students around, everyone in this community is very fitness-oriented and this is a little different than what some other places offer along with our very affordable price," Hourani said.
“I’m excited to help people out in East Lansing, that's our goal, is we want to give people results,” Area Director Michael Garza said. “We provide something for everyone in our gyms and that's ultimately our goal to see people getting results with their fitness."
The new location includes cardio, strength and circuit training, personal training, indoor turf, a group fitness studio, tanning and hydro massage beds.
"We have a ton of amenities here that we offer. So our goal is to ultimately get people the results that they want,” Garza said.
