Michael Zeig, director of planning for Michigan State’s Office of Planning and Budgets, has been selected by MSU Interim President John Engler to be his new chief of staff, according to a press release from MSU Communications and Brand Strategy.

Zieg will be replacing Jane Miller, who accepted a new position within the athletic department.

“Dr. Zeig is an expert in university management having studied it extensively including shadowing the president and senior leaders at seven colleges and universities across the country during his doctoral studies,” Engler said in the release.

Zieg began his career at MSU in 2012, following positions at Central Michigan University and the administration of former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm. He has worked within the president’s office and Office of Planning and Budgets.

“Higher education administration has always been a passion of mine,” Zieg said in the release.
