After dismissing Brianne Randall-Gay's complaint of sexual abuse by ex-MSU and USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar in 2004, Meridian Township Police has hired her to consult on criminal sexual conduct training.

During an investigation into the report, police "were duped multiple times by Nassar and believed his techniques were a medical procedure," a letter from Township Manager Frank Walsh said.

The Meridian Township Board approved the contract with Randall-Gay at its March 20 meeting. She will receive $30,000 for the 12 months she'll consult with the police.

Since Randall-Gay lives in Seattle, the police will pay for her flights to Meridian Township when she returns for training, according to her contract.

“This agreement helps to create a community-wide sexual assault prevention program to better assist children and young adults in preventing and reporting criminal sexual assaults with Brianne leading the way,” Walsh said in a press release. “My deep concern is that Brianne suffered enough from her experience with our Township and I don’t feel it is appropriate to allow her to spend her own resources in assisting us.”

This is one of three training initiatives MTPD is starting regarding criminal sexual conduct. Randall-Gay will have a video segment sharing her story in the first training program in April.

"The idea to create the program came from Brianne and she offered to be the catalyst to make it happen," Walsh said.
