A ruptured water pipe inside the Breslin Center that flooded one part of the arena won't have any effect on the MSU men's basketball game on Friday.
Cold air from freezing temperatures caused the pipe near the Breslin's southwest entrance to crack Wednesday, Lynda Boomer, the director of planning, design and construction for MSU Infrastructure Planning and Facilities told the Lansing State Journal on Thursday.
Boomer said crews were at the site of the broken pipe within 10 minutes of it breaking and shut off the water line leading to that pipe. Cleanup from the effort is ongoing.
State Senator Rick Jones posted a video of the damage to his Facebook page before crews were able to shut the water off.
According to the report, it's expected "several" ceiling tiles near the affected area will be replaced. Drywall might also need to be replaced.
Boomer said the Tom Izzo Hall of History, which was added in October, wasn't affected by the flooding.
"We have full heat on right now throughout the building drying things out," she told the State Journal.
No. 2 MSU (12-1 overall) is expected to tip off against Cleveland State (3-9) tomorrow at 6 p.m.
