The 16th annual Accapalooza, held at the Hannah Community Center, featured seven of the a cappella groups on campus: Capital Green, Ladies First, Spartan Dischords, State of Fifths, RCAHppella, Accafellas and Spartan Sur. They were two shows: Friday and Saturday night.
Spartan Sur was the host of the event this year. The event host rotates between the a cappella groups at MSU every year. Spartan Sur opened and closed the show with Bollywood and Hindi songs and mashups of popular American music.

Neuroscience senior and Spartan Sur president Alwin David said, “This event allows all the a cappella groups to showcase what they have been working on in the past year or planning for the year ahead and gives fans of a cappella music an opportunity to see all the groups at one big, awesome concert."
The Spartan Dischords and Accafellas were the two all-male groups of the show. The Spartan Dischords were founded in 1982 and they performed songs at Accapalooza such as “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” and “Stand By Me.” The Accafellas performed “Sweet Dreams” and a mashup of Motown hits.

Capital Green is a co-ed MSU a cappella group that participated in Accapalooza. Their first concert is on Nov. 18.

“I think my favorite part about Capital Green is just all of the friends that I have made and it’s cool to have an experience singing in college,” said psychology junior and Capital Green member Myia Hall. “I just really enjoy being with my best friends on stage; kind of cheesy but true.”
The other two groups that performed were RCAHppella, a co-ed group based out of the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities, and Ladies First, the only all-female a cappella group on campus.

“I just love hearing the other sounds of other groups. It is really important for us to be supportive of each other in the a cappella community. We also compete with each other so it is important to be able to see each other in a noncompetitive environment,” Ewurama Appiagyei-Dankah, social relations and policy junior and co-music director of Ladies First, said.
Accapalooza ended with all of the groups coming together to sing "Shadows," MSU's alma mater, and the "Michigan State Fight Song."
