Detroit resident Karen Erookstein, left, watches as Bloomfield, Mich. resident Larry Gaynor, right, gets something to eat on Oct. 17, 2015, prior to the game against Michigan at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. Hundreds of Spartans flocked to Ann Arbor to support the Spartans at the rivalry game.

Jim Harbaugh and “Mike D’Antoni” signs reined high above the ESPN College GameDay fans who gathered at the University of Michigan Diag today.

Green and white was sprinkled about the maize and blue crowd, including MSU sophomore and athletic training major Evan Burke.

Burke might have been the most interestingly dressed fellow at GameDay, as he was outfitted in a full-fledge green squirrel suit.

“College campuses like squirrels a lot,” Burke said.

“We really like our squirrels in East Lansing; we have a squirrel watching club. I’m not a part of it, but Michigan has a squirrel watching club too, so everyone just loves their squirrels, but our squirrels are better.”

Burke was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Mich. and will be attending the game with his family who holds season tickets at “The Big House.”

“But I turned to the other side,” Burke said. “And our football team is honestly much better.”

“Knowing that any loss can just get you out of the college playoffs, every game means everything and this what is so great about college football.”

Freshman kinesiology and special education major Erin Vocci woke up at 6 a.m. to make the trip over to GameDay's preview.

“My whole friend group goes to Michigan, I’m the only one who goes to State. It’s like 16, 17 kids against one,” Vocci said. “If we don’t win today it is going to be awful, but I’ve been bragging up until I got here.”

Vocci said she thinks the Spartans will lose today, but freshman human biology major Kelsey Parrish begs to differ.

“Michigan State is better and we are the only ones cheering, like nobody else is saying anything to us, but we’re hyped up. I’m excited I think it is going to be a good game,” Parrish said.

Parrish and Burke both attended the Oregon and Ohio State College GameDays in East Lansing during the past two years and said in their opinion, those previews were louder.

The AP 7th-ranked Spartans and AP 12th-ranked Wolverines will square off at 3:30 p.m. and will be broadcasted by ESPN.
