The Badminton Club looks a little bit more like a United Nations meeting.
The club has more than 200 members from different countries, with some from China, India and Malaysia. They play Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings at IM Sports-West.
Although the club is mostly comprised of international students, president and doctoral student Liang Chen hopes to get a more diverse group of students to join.
“It’s not only for Asian countries,” Chen said. “We want some American students. We want everyone to join. For American students, I don’t think they really know about our club.”
Chen started playing in high school has played badminton for more than 10 years. It’s a way for him to relax from the rigorous doctoral course schedule.
“I love badminton even before I came to the United States. When I play badminton I feel so relaxed.”
