Redshirt freshman forward Kenny Kaminski, who was indefinitely suspended early December by Izzo, saw his first action since Dec. 4 when he checked in during the second half against New Orleans.

After not shooting a ball in-game in more than three weeks, Kaminski pulled the trigger immediately on a 3-pointer and nailed it, waking up the fans who tuned in to a routine second half. He finished the game with four points while going 1-2 from the free throw line. However, after the game Izzo talked about the thin ice Kaminski has been skating on.

“Coaches for the most part are going to give kids second, third and fourth chances,” Izzo said. “But Kenny has got to grow up. And growing up means that me and him are running out of chances — he may do it my way or he is going to hit the highway.”

Kaminski said while he was back home during his suspension he faced some of the hardest encounters, letting friends and family know why is wasn’t with the team.

“It’s not easy going home with people saying ‘Hey, we saw you play last week against North Carolina, but what are you doing home?’ and answering that question is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do,” Kaminski said. “I really just got to grow up and do what I got to do and be the man and player I can be.”
