New sushi restaurant, St. Patrick's Day safety to be discussed at Tuesday's city council meeting

February 11, 2013

The East Lansing City Council will be holding its regular work session Tuesday to discuss opening a sushi restaurant on Lake Lansing Road, changes to the driving lanes on Michigan Avenue and an overview of safety regulations for St. Patrick’s Day.

The council will discuss whether to reduce the driving lanes on Michigan Avenue from three lanes to two, while also adding a bike lane.

The proposed restaurant, Maru Sushi and Grill, 1500 W. Lake Lansing Road, also will discussed by council. At a previous planning commission meeting, Community Development Analyst Tim Schmitt said Maru’s met all conditions for a restaurant, and city staff had no major concerns.

East Lansing Police Chief Juli Liebler will be in attendance to review safety precautions for St. Patrick’s Day.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 410 Abbot Road.
