Chandler gets new owners, renovations

February 7, 2013

After three companies purchased Chandler Crossings for more than $101 million, students are left with questions about changes the switch of ownership might bring.

On Jan. 31, The Woodlark Companies, Westpac Campus Communities and an institutional investor bought the apartment complexes, which include The Village, The Club, The Landings and The Cottages, according to StudentHousingPlanet.com, a site about student housing.

Woodlark plans to make a $9 million investment to make improvements to the properties to all apartments, including revamping floors, cabinets and appliances.

Biochemistry junior David Ng, who also resides in The Club, said renovations to the apartments are welcomed but not necessary.

“I feel like all the floors and appliances are outdated,” he said. “(The changes) are not needed but would be nice for what we are paying.”
