St. Cloud State stuck around for much of the first half after hitting four 3-pointers, but the MSU men’s basketball team pulled ahead by as much as 11 to lead the Huskies 33-26 at halftime of the team’s final exhibition game.
Freshman guard Gary Harris led the Spartans in scoring with nine points and one assist. Junior center Adreian Payne also had a strong half adding six points and snatching five rebounds.
Connor Niehaus added 6 points on two three-pointers, and four rebounds for St. Cloud St.
Neither team shot particularly well, as MSU went 12-for-30 from the floor (40 percent), while the Huskies shot 10-for-30 (33.3 percent).
The Huskies depended on 3-pointers, shooting 14 of their 30 of their shots from beyond the arc and making four of them.
There were 20 total turnovers in the first half. St. Cloud State gave it away nine times, and the Spartans turned it over 11 times in the half.
