The once toddler-ridden trend since has come full circle, and everyone, both male and female, has hopped on board. As the trend itself has come of age, form and function have followed suit, with such bands being used for everything from a daily workout to keeping ears warm in the winter.

The most recent headband trend, the head wrap, is meant to bring style and warmth to the noggin of the wearer. Here’s how you can make your own headband with the simplest of supplies — an old T-shirt.

What You’ll Need:
An old T-shirt
Scissors
Needle and thread

Step One:
Cut part of your T-shirt into two medium-sized strips in whatever width you want your headband to be. Most head wraps are typically three to four inches wide.

Step Two:
Before completing the headband, hold it around your head to make sure it’s the right size and will fit around your head.

Step Three:
Fold the strips in half lengthwise and sew only the long side shut.

Step Four:
Flip the strips right side out so that you have smooth, even seams on each strip.

Step Five:
Overlap the two strips on each other to form an ‘X’ shape.

Step Six:
Take the corresponding corners and align them to create a headband shape. Make sure the raw edges of the fabric are matched up in order to correspond with the sewn edges.

Step Seven:
Sew a clean stitch across the strips. Cut off any
of the excess fabric or strings.
