Mt. Pleasant, Mich. — With the first half of play at Kelly/Shorts Stadium in the books, the No. 11 Spartans lead the Chippewas, 24-0.

Junior running back Le’Veon Bell is leading the Spartan effort, carrying the ball 15 times for 60 yards and two touchdowns. After a shaky start, junior quarterback Andrew Maxwell seemed to find his groove with his receiving corps, going 17-for-28 for 213 yards and his first touchdown of the season, a 20-yard strike to junior tight end Dion Sims.

Junior wide receiver Bennie Fowler already has seven receptions for 92 yards on the day, including a 37-yard nab, which set up senior kicker Dan Conroy for a 29-yard field goal at the end of the half.

On defense, the Spartans have heavily pressured Central Michigan quarterback Ryan Radcliff, forcing two interceptions and holding the Chippewas to 128 yards of total offense. Junior defensive end William Gholston has four tackles and one tackler for loss in the first half.

The Chippewas will receive the ball at the beginning of the second half.
