Weekend roundup: April 13-15

It is almost the weekend. Classes are ending, and students are ready to unwind. Here is a roundup of events to attend during the weekend respite.

Billy Bell: Student Performances

Choreography developed by Billy Bell of Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” will be performed at 6:30 p.m. in the RCAH Theatre on Friday night.

The event will showcase Bell’s dance moves by students in the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities’ Creative Workshop.

The event is free for all attendees.

Books, Bites and Bids at the East Lansing Public Library

This week is National Library Week, and to celebrate, the East Lansing Public Library, 950 Abbot Road, is hosting a Books, Bites and Bids fundraiser from 6-8 p.m. Friday night.

The event will include a silent auction, appetizers and live music suitable for all ages.

Donations to attend are $30 for individuals and $50 for families and couples. Cash, checks and credit cards can be accepted in advance or on the night of the fundraiser.

Stand-up Comedian Judah Friedlander

Famous stand-up comedian Judah Friedlander will perform from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday night at Fairchild Theatre. The event is being hosted by the Residence Halls Association.

Friedlander is a comedian featured in shows such as “30 Rock” and has appeared on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” as well as in the movie “Meet the Parents.”

Doors open for the event at 7 p.m. Tickets, which can be purchased at the Wharton Center box office, are $10 for students and $20 for general public admission.

Cultural Remix 2012

The Zeta Sigma Chi multicultural sorority is hosting a cultural remix event from 5-9 p.m. Saturday at the Jenison Field House.

The event will feature a myriad of local artistic and musical talents from a variety of cultures, including hip-hop collective the BLAT! Pack and motivational spoken word performer Reyes.

Cultural Remix is free to all attendees.

The 11th Annual Sparty’s Spring Party 2012

The University Activities Board, Residence Halls Association and Student Alumni Foundation are presenting a spring-style party from 2-10 p.m. on Saturday at the International Center.

The party will include bungee basketball, inflatable pedestal jousting, glitter airbrush tattoos and a caricature artist. The event also will have free giveaways, such as frisbees, popcorn and cotton candy.

Sparty’s Spring Party is free for all who attend.
