The Michigan House Judiciary Committee is taking up the Medical Amnesty bill (HB 4393) Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Room 521, Anderson House Office Building. A similar bill has already passed the Senate and is awaiting a vote on the Senate floor.
If passed, intoxicated students who are minors that either present themselves for medical help or call for a friend that’s a minor who needs medical help will not be hit with a Minors in Possession charge.
This is common sense legislation that could save lives and has been supported by students and law enforcement officials across the state of Michigan. No matter what your politics, I encourage students to rally and attend the meeting on Thursday to show your support.
