Powers named Big Ten Golfer of the Week

MSU junior Caroline Powers was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday, after turning in a school-record 54-hole score on Oct. 9 at the Tar Heel Invitational.

This is Powers’ second Big Ten honor of the season. She earned her first honor on Sept. 22. This is also the third Big Ten honor of her career.

Powers set a school record with a 54-hole score of 208 (-8) to tie for second place at the Tar Heel Invitational.

She started the invitational with a 3-under 69 shot in the opening round and also tied a school record with a 4-under 68 in Round 2. She carded a 1-under 71 in the final round.

Powers helped her team tie for eighth place in the 18-team field.
