Parks survey

The East Lansing Department of Parks, Recreation and Arts is conducting a survey to obtain citizens’ opinions on local parks in an effort to make necessary improvements.

“We are hoping that a number of residents who are interested in taking the survey will go and take it,” Parks and Recreation Advisory Director Tim McCaffrey said. “We hope to get information that will help us in setting priorities and goals for a five-year plan.”

The survey, which is conducted once every five years, is available online through the city of East Lansing’s website, cityofeastlansing.com, and in paper format at various locations throughout East Lansing, including City Hall, 410 Abbot Road, the East Lansing Public Library, 950 Abbot Road, and the Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road.

Civil engineering senior Jake Formanczyk believes that the city should not be budgeting money to improve the parks.

“I’m sure theres much better ways they can spend their money,” Formanczyk said.
