After much anticipation, Nike and MSU unveiled the Pro Combat uniforms the Spartans will wear against Michigan on Oct. 15 at Spartan Stadium.

In a press release with the subhead “True Warriors of Battle” sent out by the university Monday, the MSU football team is compared to the Spartan warriors of Ancient Greece. The uniforms play off of that idea with Bronze helmets, accents and numbers to go along with the green and black jerseys and pants. There is not a hint of white in the uniforms.

The uniforms have the same overall design as MSU’s regular jerseys, with only the colors being different. Stitched on the back of the collar are the words “Molon Labe.” The phrase is described as the “Spartans’ defiant challenge to the competition to ‘come and get them!’”

Along with the appearance of the uniform, the jerseys are designed to be lightweight, cool and provide for added protection.

MSU is one of nine selected schools to wear the special uniforms this season.
