Shoulder closures will be seen on westbound Interstate 96 between U.S. 127 and Okemos Road, starting the week of Oct. 3, for installation of median cable guardrails, according to a release from the Michigan Department of Transportation.
Intermittent shoulder closers are expected on eastbound I-96, as well.
For those traveling in the area, traffic backups might occur, and motorists should plan ahead for extra travel time.
Depending on the future weather conditions, the project is expected to take about one month to complete. Schedules can change based on the contractor’s decisions and the weather, but MDOT will provide updates if any major changes occur.
