No one was injured Monday night after a fire erupted at 129 Burcham Apartments.

Twelve East Lansing firefighters responded at about 11 p.m. Monday and called for additional help from the Meridian Township Fire Department, East Lansing firefighter Leo Allaire said.

The fire spread through the walls of the apartment complex and filled the hallways with thick black smoke, Allaire said.

Three of the 12 apartment units were damaged from the fire, he said.

Residents were evacuated before firefighters arrived at the scene.

They will be staying at a hotel for the next several nights with assistance from the Lansing Red Cross until other accomodations can be made by DTN Management.

It is unknown how long residents will be displaced, DTN Management Director of Operations Dawn Lawless said.
