Ferrell qualifies for Amateur Public Links Championship

After a strong showing at Washington County Golf Course in Hartford, Wis., MSU sophomore Allyssa Ferrell has qualified for the 2011 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship.

As a freshman for the Spartans in 2010-11, Ferrell started in eight tournaments and compiled an average of 77.64 over 25 rounds. Ferrell placed a season-high 17th at the Lady Buckeye Invitational April 17 and tied her season-best round with a 72 on the last day of the Big Ten championship, helping the Spartans win their ninth Big Ten title in school history.

The 2011 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship will be held June 27 to July 2 at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Ore.
